ABOUT THE STORY OF KENAI

In a vast plains, there once was a boy named KENAI who lived with his family. Kenai always wanted to join the hunt with his Father and brothers. However, Kenai had a bad leg. He could not run fast like other boys. He had to stay behind.

When the call for the hunt of the Shaggy Ones swept through the camp, Kenai saw his last chance to join the selected braves and bring honor to his family. To his dismay the Elders did not choose him again. Kenai's hopes fell like a stone in the freezing lake. But a dark shadow was awoken in the boarding woods of their camp. Wise Grandmother called upon Kenai to be brave. There was no one else to defend the women, children, and the elders.

Kenai must prove to everyone and himself that he can be a mighty brave among his people. A bad leg does not define him - his spirit does.

The Story of Kenai is for all tribes. Indeed, all peoples young and old can identify with Kenai and the tests he faces during his struggle to find his place among his people.

To celebrate the coming launch of PJ Gladish and Nicole C. Choque's new children's book, the author has pledged a donation to a local event, the Stillwater PowWow 2018.

We encourage our readers to participate in your own local events and get to know the culture of the Native American people in your area.
